Ok, 2 seconds in and I'm already distracted by Simon's interesting fashion choices.

Like others, music is fine, but the mix is much too loud. The older ‘more serious’ music in old Situation Room videos suited it far more. And the mix was better. ‘Sharp sounding’ music with high treble just distracts from Simon speaking. But yeah, the music mix is too loud in this video. It should be about 40% of what it is in the video. Simon’s narration should always take priority in the mix and clarity of speech.

Looking forward to the upcoming civil discussion in the comments section.

17:04 - Didn't expect the 'Simon is self aware he is very bald' thing to come back on a 'serious' channel like this LOL

@yap5995 It is Western leaning, yes, but it is very well researched and far from propaganda. The writers have criticised Western nation inaction consistently and outright stated Ukraine's counterattack failed and gave credit when due regarding the Surovikin line as well as (pre plane 'elimination') Wagner's advances. They also have pointed out the infighting and reports of corruption within Ukraine's ranks and the reservations many Ukrainian soliders had of the new commander. But 50 rubles for you bro.

or in modern times: Insecure dudes with egos via Internet forums LOL (see 'War Thunder' forums leaks and the 'Discord leaks'). I have a note regarding that: My Mum and Dad used to run a Chinese takeaway. We had an (lower level security) American military base nearby and Marine personnel used to frequent our takeaway for food and my Mum and Dad's old work car, one of our workers and my Mum and Dad were one of the very few authorised civilian cars and civilians allowed onto the base to deliver the food to them. We had to submit to background checks etc to get the security authorisation. Both the US and my country's government knew we delivered to them. We were happy to do that because they usually ordered BIG. Once 9/11 happened, this all changed. They locked down the security and we couldn't deliver to them nor did they come down anymore.

Or a special episode

@Gandalfthecommieslayer the writers are to be credited for that neutral stance. However Simon is the executive producer of a lot of the channels, thus it is often his final decision of how the video will go. And they do read the comments and listen to constructive criticism feedback. Simon has hundreds of videos of practice at this point ha! There's a 'Today I Found Out' anniversary video that goes into the history of Simon on Youtube and his very first video voiceover and it is a big night and day difference. Simon also has theatre / actor training as well.

Winter was not a factor because it affected both sides equally. It is a common myth.

@JimboJamboJames he isn’t just the narrator. He oversees the production and direction of all his channels. Yes, he has writers, editors and other staff, but he is the one that oversees it all and owns a stake in all of them. He used to narrate for other people on other channels, but it is known he owns at least a minority stake in all the channels he hosts and oversees production in of all them.

Only this is wrong, as per this: "The Soviet offensive coincided with an unusual temperature drop, to below minus 35 degrees Celsius on 5 and 6 December. But in fact, the Germans were able to ward off the Soviet attacks during these incredibly low temperature days. On 6 December, in a record minus 38 degrees below zero, German 9th Army counter-attacked at Kalinin with heavy support from Panzergruppe 3 [Panzer Group 3, a tank army consisting of several corps] and pushed back Soviet 31st Army across River Volga again. In the process, Soviet 250th Rifle Division was completely routed and had to be withdrawn from combat."

LOL thinking a president has anything to do with this. Please take a high school economics class.
9
@aSSGoblin1488 He owns at least a minority stake in all the channels he hosts and he owns a stake in the production company too. He is the executive producer for them and is basically the final word on decisions. They have ALOT of writers for the different channels, who all specialise in different things.

The comments section never loses 😂

@ericp1139 Perun before this was in Australian arms procurement for a private company. He has explicitly stated that is the reason why he cannot comment ever on Australian arms procurement. It is like how CaspianReport can never comment on Azerbaijani politics (as Shirvan, the main man behind CspainReport, likes his livelihood and likes his family's safety).
6
US foreign policy does not change that fast and that drastic.
6
Oh no, the Internet and its dark humour 😂😭
6
My fat arse thought of confectionery. Admit it, you did too.
6
@jacekicksass see my post above. Geopolitics isn’t as simple as you think it is. It is NEVER a pure numbers game.
6
@tom.m They do listen and implement constructive criticism. That said, many are doing this for pictures to get around Youtube's flawed auto-copyright issues thus why you have seen it for many channels as of late. It could be that.

1) The company behind this owns like 10 other channels eh. 2) They know the serious nature of the topics means any sponsors take away from views and is detrimental for long term growth 3) Like how Amazon subsidies their e-commerce with AWS, they likely do it with the revenue of the other channels. Yes, Amazon's e-commerce that you know well often loses money but like for them, it is about cornering a market, in this case, modern geopolitics analysis Youtube 4) They know the growth of this channel and they know this channel gets views 5) Use half a brain next time.

The comments section of all these ‘coup’ videos is so good 😂

@fattiger6957 Only it is highly incorrect. Germany pays the same into NATO as the US and Europe pays 83.7% of it's budget. And these are using stats days before the Russian Invasion as it is the approved budget for 2023, which was approved in early February 2022. And of course, this is before Finland and (going to be) Sweden joined, lessening the US percentage even more.

@sebastianwolfmayr as I stated before, the writers have criticised Western nation inaction consistently and outright stated Ukraine's counterattack failed and gave credit when due regarding the Surovikin line as well as (pre plane 'elimination') Wagner's advances. They also have pointed out the infighting and reports of corruption within Ukraine's ranks and the reservations many Ukrainian soldiers had of the new commander. They have been far more neutral than most sources.

He has very good writers writing for him and we much appreciate it 👍

the most meme-able part of this horrid war.

‘Things you have missed’ - this covered lesser known stories. Read the title bud.

In before 'INTRO TEXT/AD PLUG' is fixed.

@haveaknifeday oh grow up. You know nothing about refugees. They were literally the victims smart one. This is like blaming North Koreans who fled the regime. As stated in the video, you need to support and fund their integration Why do you think South Korea, after the usual screening of them, put North Korean refugees into a 3 month long integration course and give them adequate housing? You think that isn’t a bit cheaper than the crime here?
3
Yeah, CaspianReport ain’t gonna cover this 😅 (CaspianReport’s main person is Azeri, it is one of the bigger geopolitics channels in YouTube and he has acknowledge he won’t be able to cover it in a balanced way as well, he doesn’t want to get into issues with his government and his feelings either way would cloud a unbiased assessment)
3
They are building far greater capacity in solar as well, they are also the leaders in ultra high voltage transmission lines.
3
@fn0rd-f5o The tech is one thing, how an enemy reacts to it and how you tweak the tech to counter it can only happen in a war zone. But hey, ‘cope cages’ on tanks occurred in World War One as well with the MK I tank to prevent grenades from going into the turret.
3
A key question to counter this is why would they move so many troops to the West Bank then..... Even Russia massed troops on the border for months before....
3
You actually believed that? 😂 - Watch all the actual Aussies laugh at you.
3
See ‘Friendlyjordies’ reporting on it.
2
‘Good Times, Bad Times’ covers this FAR better and also touches upon how Israel’s leadership hampered itself leading up to this. They are Polish thus neutral as well.
2
@mudman619 70% of civilians in the Gaza Strip are refugees when Israel kicked them out. Knowing you like the military, I dare you to say that in front of Medal of Honor hero's family, Petty Officer Michael Monsoor. An Arab.
2
the UK didn't fully pay back it's WWII debt to the US until 2006. Also Ukraine has minerals....
2
@yap5995 they literally criticise the West's inaction 6:56 in bro.

@Ekdrink Guess what ads and YT Premium is bro. Have you ever uploaded a video ever?

@dimitri6171 I see you didn’t bother watching the entire video
2
They had both videos ready.
2
Albo has stated he doesn’t care how it is pronounced. In proper Italian, it is Al-ba-nay-see. He has stated all these differences, including the Australian English pronunciation.
2
@stress2impress see my comment above yours. He doesn’t care and the Aussie pronunciation is wrong anyway vs proper Italian. And the Italian pronunciation is mispronounced vs the Albanian origin.
2
you know propaganda goes both ways right? Do you truly think cutting off food, medical supplies and water to civilians should be what you support?
2
Not wrong. Factboi Simon hosts about 10 of them. He has at least a minority ownership in all of them. All of them have got separate writers and editors but it is Simon who also oversees all of them. He often prioritises production of these current events videos over the other channels as on YouTube, the sooner, the more views but they notably don’t rush the research for that. This channel has got very good researchers and writers.

"Here's the stuff you missed" - this is covering lesser known stories. Read the title eh.

I have studied South Pacific geopolitics, with a focus on China. Yes, China are not to be underestimated, but in reality, Australia possesses great geopolitical power in…….minerals. BHP and Rio Tinto and Glencore hold far more political sway than any ship. Why do you think Xi was cosying up to Albanese saying China was open for business? Because he needs that coal and iron ore, both of which are the highest quality in the world. Much like how the West over depended on Chinese manufacturing, guess who over depended on Australian thermal and coking coal and iron ore, that many of their machines only take the grade of coal and iron ore that Australia has? China. Guess who mines the most lithium in the world? Australia Guess who is the biggest producer of EV cars in the world? China. Albanese and Wong know this. They are far smarter foreign policy wise than dumbfck Slomo (Scott Morrison) and Potatohead (Dutton) ever was. Why do you think Albanese is backing Australian universities opening campuses in Vietnam and India for? It isn’t for kicks.
