  2. Not lux clothes, but lux beauty here: I worked at a regional L'oreal head office for about a year. Ask me anything. and yes, I know the markups to the retailer, let alone to the consumer ROFL. One of the few pros of the job (was terrible) was the massive discounts on the products at the staff store. 70%, 80% easily off retail. I overheard a meeting and L'oreal were so pissed/angry at a certain large supermarket chain (won't name for obvious reasons) because essentially, in layman's terms, people were stealing their products too much and thus threatened to not supply that supermarket chain ROFL. But as with lux clothing brands, it is predicted to skyrocket in sales, even with the pandemic.

Canā€™t blame Apple for other manufacturers only producing gigantic screen smartphones which are a pain to hold with one hand. And the software isnā€™t dodgy like with the latest Pixel. I have no brand loyalty. I switched to Apple from Android for these reasons. The Apple anti fanboys are far worse in their snobbiness than any Apple fanbois these days. This isnā€™t the mid 2010s. No one gives two shits anymore.

Our increases in inflation is mainly based on the price of housing and the oil price, both of which is nothing to do with the money printer. Also note that in the US, FAR more working age Americans died of COVID-19 vs other countries and thus pushing up labour shortages and thus inflation via supply chain bottlenecks and increased wages. - In Europe, skyrocketing energy prices are a big factor in inflation and in the UK, it's both energy prices and supply chain bottlenecks and labour shortages caused by Brexit.

Of course supermarkets can get away with smaller margins / buy it cheaper due to economies of scale / they buy a ton more. Quality wise, once again, depends on product, but as with other products, the higher end is much less of a difference than the price difference.

  40. Nuclear is FAR FAR FAR too expensive in capital cost, which does not make up for it's cheaper generation cost. Not to mention due to the long construction time, in order to carry over until then, countries would use fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, which negates all the environmental benefit of nuclear too. I'm pro nuclear for the science, but unlike the nuclear fanbois, I actually know the economics. Solar is 5 x cheaper than in 2013, wind is 2/3rds cheaper than in 2015. You think it won't get even cheaper?

Employers may also offer more than the mandated minimum to attract workers as well. There are many options in funds and portfolios and there are many ethical ones out there.

  45. Not at all. Remember in reality, gas stations make FAR more profit when you buy an overpriced drink or snacks than they ever do off the fuel. This wonā€™t really change with gas stations having EV charging or RNG / biogas pumps. EV chargers will be located where the gas stations are located already due to market forces. Not to mention larger high traffic places will have them as essentially a ā€˜loss leaderā€™, in that they donā€™t expect to make much profit off the charging, but it will bring EV drivers to that place and thus shop there more and/or think of the place of business more positively. Not to mention lots of rural private campgrounds are installing them because if they donā€™t, the consumers with EVs will leave for the competition. Pure market forces.
