  2.  @davidjames1684  to add, there are also strong tax deduction incentives to 'salary sacrifice', which is just fancy wording for adding more to your pension fund than what your employer is putting in for you. Employers may also offer more than the mandated minimum to attract workers as well. There are many options in funds and portfolios and there are many ethical ones out there.
