And the super ironic thing? There's a solution in China itself to this: For every additional property over owner-occupier in Shanghai, the deposit needed to buy increases dramatically per additional house, per person / couple. How cunning Chinese have got around this to get divorces to own more but of course, in Western law, this is a great undertaking if you have other assets / and well, easy to audit really.

the thing is all of these have solutions from around the world (and even here in Australia!). When Melbourne drastically increased stamp duty, prices plummeted so you can do it without federal government intervention. It's nothing to do with the boogeyman foreign investors either as Chinese investment in Australian property collapsed around 2018 yet it has still massively increased.

Chinese investment in Australian property has collapsed since 2018 however.

@jackeldridge1319 China has TERRIBLE infrastructure. Look up 'Tofu dreg" projects. They are rife with corruption too. Don't fall for the propaganda haha.

@jackeldridge1319 looks better, structurly it's different. You think 'tofu dreg' doesn't exist?

@jackeldridge1319 bullet trains...that run at massive losses and only are there for political reasons. It isn't financially viable to run HSR across the US except for BOSNYWAS (urban area between Boston and Washington) due to population density.

@jackeldridge1319 and using US infrastructure vs say France's rail network is misleading.
1
@jackeldridge1319 also "noone complains"? Is that why it got so bad, that there was rare bipartisan support for their infrastructure bill?
1
@jackeldridge1319 no, it isn’t just pure construction cost. It is cost/benefit to the economy as a whole and **versus other alternatives**. If infratructure A cost a lot less than infratructure B while having the same economic benefit, why would you go B?
1
@jackeldridge1319 white elephants can sink economies and importantly, sink public spending diverting that money away from other needed services to fund.
1
@jackeldridge1319 yes and use better examples, like French rail.
