Too many people fail to understand how this works which is a shame.

Yaroslav Shevelev You will connect to Australia so latency wouldn't be an issue. A fellow Kiwi here.

Nicolas Hyams I doubt you are gaming 24/7 so it;s shared resources. Think of it like an internet cafe.

Myntekt Saves money for them in the long run with that and higher resolution scaling and in the IT infrastructure of building the thing, the Titan X supports virtual desktop infrastructure environments (which this essentially is).
1
TheLotw They're datacenter servers that are dispersed around the world...you think it's one central server?..LOL. Ignorance I tell you.
1
TheLotw unless they allow you to backup your 'image' on their servers.

***** 'gaming' is real-time 3D rendering. Think about it.
1
ray windhelm It's cloud gaming, meaning you pay to use their resources, which includes the Titan X. It's really like an virtual Internet cafe on the Internet (without the stinky gamers!). Everyone will have their own operating system image of sorts with all your stuff on it like games, applications etc and when you log on, it'll use the next available resources. As stated, think of it like an Internet cafe. Many companies use cloud computing for virtual desktops etc...

***** because they're workstation GPUs in AMD Firepro's which are designed for virtual desktop technology and are not your consumer 'gamer' GPUs. In other words, your 'average' gamer who doesn't understand how virtual desktop infrastructure works won't know what Firepro's are and thus would think they're 'inferior'. Gamers think they know a lot about computer tech but in reality, they don't at all.

***** a GPU is a GPU. It doesn't matter what the application is however some have more features like remote graphics capabilities (which this is) such as the AMD Firepros. Give this a read. It uses VMWare as an example, but it can easily be applied to the (better) Citrix XenDesktop or in this case, Leap Computing's own one: https://www.amd.com/Documents/52627_FirePro_VMWare_Overview.pdf . Yes, to be accurate they shouldn't name it a 'AMD Radeon' but that marketing and naming it to a thing gamers recognise eh? Actual IT stuff like this most gamers don't know about. Consumer gaming and PC hobbyists things such as constructing a PC, overclocking (which is getting more and more pointless these days) have very little to do with actual IT / ICT.

Ha, so much anger. Overclocking is pointless these days because of the cost to benefit factor these days in gaming. It's more cost effective in upgrading your CPU than buying the needed computer gear in a better motherboard and third party CPU cooler for example. Do your math son. It's pure e-peen these days unless you go a very top-end CPU and play games that actually utilise the CPU a lot like Starcraft 2. Even then, you'll get more performance for the money upgrading the graphics card with the additional cash. So much anger for a lack of math. Overclocking was originally done so you got higher performance FOR THE MONEY. You're probably the same type of 'gamer' that buys a 1000W PSU for a single graphics card setup or spends $3000 on the PC but $0 on the sound.

The Emporium Holy god, someone that actually understands the concept of this being essentially a VDI. By the way, Citrix is better ;)

Legit technical based question, as I know a bit more about VDI's than the average gamer as I work in IT with a VDI environment and well, I'm a gamer too! How would your service negate the mouse latency that is often an issue in a VDI / virtual desktop environment and that would be a killer in FPS gaming? Also on a business perspective, how would you counter future competition in this market such as from Amazon Cloud services (either directly or indirectly via game companies launching their own cloud gaming services running off Amazon Cloud services)? Also as this is based on individual OS 'images' and not collective like an organisation would be, how would you deal with licensing issues with certain applications that either authenticate their licensing via some sort of computer ID e.g. MAC address or IP address ranges? Thanks!

Aint1S How is it all 'smoke and mirrors'? Because you fail to understand how virtual desktops work?
