This is why in civilised coutnries, we have universal healthcare. Yes, it's still a basic monopoly, however there is no profit incentive and the only incentive for governments is to properly heal you so you get back to work quicker (see more tax revenue), and paying you say welfare payments if you are jobless or disabled is still ALOT cheaper than hospital and medical costs so covering people who can't work is still incentivised. And no, is your private health insurance <1.82% of your pre-tax income like in Australia? And no, we don't pay more tax than you **for the median income**. There are online income tax calculators of any country in the world these days, don't make yourself look silly. And no, the wait times and services are similair if not better than the US. A lot of countries with unviersal healthcare have MORE doctors and midwives per 100,000.

@TheJackOfAllTrades777 Only it isn't better based on international metrics.

@Demopans5990 thus why universal healthcare as it's an ENTIRE COUNTRY'S healthcare system vs smaller insurance companies. I wonder who can broker better prices for orders?

@Mornings see above. it's simple Maths.

@sherman1763 it works everywhere else eh. And in the free market, it's better as guess who has mroe buying power?

@sherman1763 Only universal healthcare literally works everywhere else....and in an universal healthcare market, they still win via economies of scale. Universal healthcare has a bigger pool of money and it doesn't matter if the hospital in an area is profitable or not. Also as stated, who do you think is going to get a cheaper, better deal on medical supplies? Universal healthcare system with hundreds of hospitals or a small group of hospitals? Friedman's neoliberalism has proven to be destructive vs. Keynesian economics and Ordoliberalism. Stop trying to sound smart with high school level economics ROFL.
2
@sherman1763 go read up on rural hospitals in the US shutting down.
2
@sherman1763 you are also aware it was the LACK of government regulations that caused the GFC right?
2
@sherman1763 If you want futher stuff, try reading up on Modern Monetary Theory, popularised by Bill Mitchell, a great educator and world-renowned economist. I can play the BS pseudo-smart game too ROFL. (Only it's actually a lot better)

Only Canada is essentially USA lite in regards to healthcare vs. better universal healthcare systems.

@The.Red.Tomahawk prove it with evidence.
1
@The.Red.Tomahawk only wait times are not worse than the US particuarly factoring in admin times for the US, You are aware how insurance works and how it's jsut a pool of money? Guess what a larger pool of money gets you? Cheaper products. And the ones contributing to the system ARE the shareholders so there is no profit incentive. Not to mention as the government has pools of money from elsewhere, they can just reallocate as needed.
1
@The.Red.Tomahawk Dude, I'm talking aobut pools of money BUYING MEDICAL PRODUCTS. Also you are using tech developed from taxpayer money too ROFL (The Internet, wireless signal trasmission such as WiFi). Also the methodology of wait times is rather easy to do. You think international comaprisions by the UN and WHO isn't a thing nor are independent comparisons.... less emotions, more logic.
1
@The.Red.Tomahawk bro. Jake in this video literally goes into the money inefficiencies of private healthcare companies. Less emotions bro. Why does it work everywhere else then? Are your private healthcare costs <1.82% of your pre tax wage like in Australia? Or do you want to pay more of your post tax wage to it?
1
@The.Red.Tomahawk way to dodge the actual subject ;)
1
no they don't and there are MANY patented Mary Jane varieties.
1
@Elennar29 so you mean the far higher debt to GDP ratio the US has and the far higher healthcare expenditure to GDP the US has too? - If only some of that money was spent on the US education system. Example: you.
1
Canada is just USA lite in a lot of things, including healthcare as per international metrics vs other universal healthcare systems.
1
it isn't them, it's the insurance companies and middle brokers.
1
@TheRKae yes, malpractice does occurs. In fact, it's worse in the US. But you really dunno how it was back in the day eh....
