Great explanation of Town, City, Village. I just always assumed it came down to how the different municipalities got categorized by the state. Great explanation.

Great video Briggs! At first it made sense that small states had a higher percentage, but NY, CA? That was interesting and still kind of made sense until you got to Nevada. I have never truly known Oregon much, but I was truly surprised by Nevada. Please keep making videos that can help us learn, and try to ignore the comment section.

Great job Briggs! It must get so tiresome trying to tip toe around the "politics". You are a brave and smart person. Thanks for all you do!

Great video! I could not agree with you more about gaining a trade skill. UW has seen such a large decline in enrollment already that they are closing campuses, cutting degree programs and trying to focus on trade skills that could transfer into degrees at the larger schools that will weather the storm, like UW-Madison, LaCrosse, ...et al. I have owned a small business near Madison for over 3 decades. Most of my employees have always college bound. I have noticed that this is no longer the case. If you don't want any college debt and be rolling in money learn a trade!

Not surprised about Australia, or New Zealand! New Zealand is on my bucket list to visit. I did expect quite a few European countries to be on this list, but Belgium was a surprise. I had a 17 year friend from Belgium who spoke at least 3 languages that I knew of. He thought nothing of it, like it was normal. Switzerland, definitely not a surprise. Imagine how much money could be spent per capita if you were not a nation building country. Great video Briggs! Thanks!

I became a naturalized citizen in 2007. I am disgusted by almost everything going on in this country before and after I gained citizenship. but I was born in England. Raised in this great experiment called America.

I wish there was a "love" button. "Like" just doesn't display my appreciation for your videos. I change my opinion on where I want to move after every video you post. Thanks for an excellent video.

Madison, WI is an awesome place. Our winters keep getting warmer, and snow less plentiful. My husband and I sold our snow blower, we are happy to shovel a few times. However, we have a large lot that requires a nice riding mower! We are considering a move to Rochester, MN. Not sure you have ever said one thing about, other than the Mayo Clinic! Four of my family members work for the Mayo. Part of the reason we want to move there. The rest of my husbands family live in Winona, MN, at city the Amtrak stops at. The rest of my family live in the Twin Cities. We would be closer to all families. I appreciate how you have a plug for relocation service at the end of your videos! I might need it. Happy World Kindness Day!

I fell in love with Madison the instant I visited. After living here for 34 years, I still regret having to scrape ice and snow off my window far too often. I have visited San Diego a couple of times, it is always 75 and sunny. Great vibe! I love that city as well! Great video Briggs!
33
Sorry to hear about Oregon. I know it must hurt, but like I said in another of your videos, you are very open about your biases. I hope it gets better for your state soon! Thanks for the video!

I am honestly shocked by every single country you have mentioned! I could see myself moving my business to many of these countries. Thanks for posting! I appreciate the work you do!

The Shedd is awesome! But I could get lost in the Field Museum forever. I actually was lost in the art institute! They locked the doors while I was still inside. I was so amazed by the displays I never realized they were closed and I needed to leave.

I have been to CA a couple of times, about a decade ago. San Diego is awesome! LA is pretty good also. I hated San Fran. It was cold and rainy, never saw the city. My childhood best friend lived in San Jose for awhile, owned a very small house with almost no yard. He moved back home and built a mansion in a very expensive suburb with all the money he and his wife made in San Jose.

Choked on my drink when you mentioned North Dakota. I would never move to ND ever! I would rather move to Alabama, or Mississippi. And I live in the midwest.
19
When you mentioned that Richmond had only 57 homicides, I thought that is not too bad. Then I realized that Madison, WI which is slightly bigger saw there murder rate double in 2022. From 2 annually to 4. I knew Syracuse was not the capital, but I was trying to think what the capital was before I started typing. You beat me! Great video!
18
I did not doubt my state would make the list, but waited with bated breath. It made the list! Great video Briggs. I was kind of surprised by some of the states on the list. I have upcoming lifestyle changes and would like to see more states. Thanks always for you great posts!
18
I know I should not be laughing so hard at a Top 10 Worst States list, but Briggs your comedian! Said my peace, gonna watch to the end now. Bless your heart.
17
Super interesting! I knew CA would be top. If it were a nation it would have something like the sixth largest GDP in the world!
16
Great video! I was hoping my city would be on this list. However, my city couldn't truly grow in population because it is already very densely populated. I think that the insane growth in the burbs is why I felt my city might be on this list. Thanks Briggs!
16
Kudos to New Mexico for passing the Elizabeth Whitefield act of passion! It is not that great, but it is a start. Glad to find something positive about NM. Trying to read up on the CO law now. Great video Briggs! Thanks for the post. I truly think we need to get back to the issue of choice for those who are at the end of life.
16
I was loving this video, even thinking I could consider visiting this state. Then Briggs, you started speaking to me only. I am going to be a WI snow bird soon. Every video I watch you have me considering another place to live. I would never have thought about looking at Alabama, until now. Thanks for all the info, and entertainment!
16
Bhutan is an amazing country! Perhaps top 10 greatest countries! But any visitor would have a heck of a time getting there.
15
Great video Briggs! I was so glad you made the subtle mention of Hmong in Wisconsin. When the Hmong sought refuge in the US in 1974 they landed mostly in 3 states. CA, MN, WI. My husband is Hmong, born and raised in MN. Perhaps a top ten list for the Hmong community? Like native people they have only spoken history, nothing documented. The Hmong have only 19 families left(clans). Their history could be lost forever in a decade.

For the record, I spit out my drink when you made the granite state joke. The only time I was in Nebraska, I was surprised how nice it was. It is so much nicer than people give it credit. Iowa is a nice state also, but how can you take anything serious when they have a chain of convenience/gas stations called Kum&Go? Great video Briggs!
13
I grew up in MN, a suburb of the Twin Cities. I remember when we switched from heating oil to natural gas. Someone should have opened/not opened some vent. My family all suffered very serious effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. We did not know it at the time, talking mid 80's.
13
I understand the idea of life expectancy, but if your are moving to a place to retire, isn't your life expectancy already pretty much determined? With that said I would think weather, and healthcare would the only retirees would be concerned with. Great video! Thanks for doing all the research I am too lazy to do.
13
I can not thank you enough Briggs for this video!!!!! I have been very confused why Putin is so hell bent on invading Ukraine. This video makes me understand everything so much better than anyone else could that I asked. We all need to remember that the Chernobyl is in Ukraine.
12
I was kind of surprised by Venezuela. Totally blindsided by North Korea! Of course North Korea! I hate when my family says Korea, just expecting everyone to thinks of South Korea. Great video Briggs!

I have been to Houston. I took a very fast road trip through Texas. Flew into Houston. Picked up a rental car, drove down the coast to Brownsville. Came back up the Rio Grande to San Antonio, got harassed by boarder guys who "detained" me for a couple of embarrassing minutes. Then an awesome night in Austin with an old college buddy for Then back to Houston. The rental guy did a double take on the odometer. I drove 1500 miles in Texas and saw about a 1/3 of the state in 3 days. Moral of the story? IDK anything about Houston, that is why I love Briggs. Texas is huge! I thought the Dallas/Fort Worth area was gigantic compared to Houston.
12
I love the video! I am honestly shocked by how expensive homes cost on this list. Most look great if you want to build, but I need to learn a ton more about that, before it becomes an option.
12
I love these kinds of videos Briggs! You always put out awesome content! I have been to Burlington IA, on several occasions. I agree with you.
12
Duluth MN is bliss, if you like beauty cold and MN nice!
12
Never expected WA or OR! Makes sense though. I was 8 out of 10. I have so much respect for you Briggs! To call out your own state, is why I love your channel! You go by facts, and when you don't you make it clear why. When you do the 10 best list, which I pray you do. Ask us to list our guesses in the comments before the video. Just to see if we are paying attention to your videos.
11
You are so biased Briggs! What I truly appreciate about your videos, have always appreciated about your videos, is you are upfront about those biases. Tough subject to cover so quickly, awesome job!
11
Great video Briggs! Honestly, I was surprised and relieved to see the US on this list. The political turmoil makes me feel we have passed the point of no return. I hope not, I love the country also. Take care of yourself. Peace.

I can't ever see living in New Jersey ever! My parents raised me in MN. I raised my kids in WI. I thought Minnesota "nice", or Wisconsin "nice" was just something someone said about every state until I met my business partner nearly 3 decades ago. He was from Boston. Anyways... I have loved Iowa and Nebraska every time I have been there. However, it is now time for me to be somewhere warm and safe. Thanks Briggs for another excellent video!
11
GREAT VIDEO! I hoped my state would make this, but not surprised it did not. When I do my taxes I usually get a state refund that almost offsets my federal obligation every year. We all have to pay! Thanks Briggs.
11
Great video, as always, Briggs! I grew up in MN. My parents were insistent that my siblings and I become great swimmers because as they put it, "we are likely to fall into a lake at some point". I now live in WI, and have enjoyed so many great lakes by kayak, but most by a mouthful of water while swimming across. I am amazed that MN is ranked so high with roads because of the winters, but good on them! Thanks for the picture of Pikes Peak when talking about Iowa. It was closed, but open this year? So weird.

And these are the best states! I have been hearing so much about inflation, "shrinkfation",...However, I just realized while watching this video why I am having a tough time with my household budget. I do not know about anyone else, but I did not budget for an extra $718 a month. Great video Briggs!

When I was an infant, my very confused parents with 3 very young decided to land in the USA in Olympia, WA.

Great video! I know we have relatively low taxes compared to Europe, but it is about the money you have at the end of the month that is important to most people. Europeans generally have a larger portion of their income left over at the end of the month. I realize tons of things go into that figure. I assume you will post a top 10 reasons why Europe is better than the US. Bet your your comments will be way worse for that one. Thanks Briggs!

Great video Briggs! I live in the Midwest and consider myself pretty political. By that, I mean, I feel it is important to vote every chance I get. From the town board to the school board! It is not my identity, I hope. I have great relationships with people with whom I have diametrically differing political opinions. It is tough for me to understand how they can be such good people and not see the world the way I do, but that is life. At the end of the day, we care about each other. Welcome to "Midwest nice".

I thought it would be fun watching this video because it was a list of places I should not look at moving to, however, I honestly felt kind of sad. I know in my state the homicide rate was much higher in 2020 than any preceding year in almost 2 decades. I found it interesting that nationally it went down in 2020. Love the humor Briggs, as always! Great job! I keep forgetting to look at the other channel. Keep reminding me, I will get there eventually.
9
Great video Briggs! I have no interest in retiring in Florida! I am surprised that some of the more "climate" safe states were not on the list
9
I grew up in MN. I should not be surprised! But I was! MN, WI, and CA have the highest Hmomg population.
9
Great video Briggs! I love your humor! Most of your quips are not lost on me. However tonight when you said, " and a lot of questions on fathers day", in reference to OK I lost it. I had just taken a drink of water and sprayed the room in uncontrollable laughter. I think my cats are traumatized! Not moving to OK anytime soon.

I laughed so hard when you said Mexico....I knew it was going to be Mississippi. You just know how to make me laugh Briggs!

Hahahahahaha!

I went to college in North Dakota. I could find nothing good to say about the state. It was awful. I have only barely been to South Dakota once. In general, I like South Dakota. You mentioned property taxes, you mentioned how people do not understand small differences, and I agree! However, I live in a state that is classified with SD, and my property taxes are $6000/year or $500/month. That is not a small amount of money! Probably why I should start looking for property in SD. However, you kind of sold me on Traverse City, MI yesterday.

I did not yell "Hell no", I spit out my drink. Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns are definatly the best division 2 teams. Thanks for a great video! I think Ohio is pretty cool also.
