  6.  @f.ferenc88 . By virtue of the EU parlament being democratic… for every country in the eu, being a member is an option. As a member of a democracy you are free to vote for whatever you want, under the condition that you abide to whatever the majority decides. So yes, what the majority decides is far more important than what a single country thinks. And that’s how democracy works, certainly doesn’t make it totalitarian.

  8. Human right yes. If you don’t have permit to protest you don’t get to protest. That’s how a civilized society works. And if you are unhappy with that democratically decided policy/rule. Then you are free to vote for someone who shares your opinion. That’s how democracy works.

  11. My add for this video was from the ECR. Advertising a “documentary” (if you could call I that) where the lead would visit “some of the most euro-sceptic people”. Not exactly nuanced. Wonder what the ECRs opinion is in targeted advertising…

  42.  @thegreatestmage3251 , Banning education and public showings of LGBT-related material is the textbook example, of the first step of oppression. If it isn't oppression, directed at LGBT, then a public showing of heterosexual material would also be banned. Yet, that's not happening. And it may not be actively changing someone, but it limits the education the next generation will get.

The purpose of these laws is that the next generation won't know what homosexuality is, yet history shows that it doesn't make them any less homosexual, it makes them depressed.

  47. This scale of packing the courts is not happening in the US. State sponsored media comes with a major asterisk in most western countries. Impartiality. And yes there is freedom of speech, but going out and accusing say LGBT for being I don’t know criminals, without any proof is illegal. Which is very reasonable.

  49. Problem being Sweden hasn’t committed (what many believe to be) war crimes against people who haven’t been proven to belong to any terrorist organization. The reason Sweden hasn’t classed these organizations as terrorist is because it’s more complicated that what some people think. The PKK has gone through numerous changes and phases, but is currently on its own a political group, not armed. However it does have armed sister groups. Turkey doesn’t like Habeas Corpus, but innocence until proven guilty is a hallmark of modern democracy.
