There was only cars because that was a shitty designed stroad. And people need to drive.
16
Any normal sorry average person understands that he’s joking, and would appreciate the humor.
16
And in Europe we can live in cities without crime. The problem isn’t cities it’s your country.
14
Amsterdam is like objectively better in every way. Prove me wrong
12
Then you haven’t lived in a well planned city.
11
How is that relevant?... And if you account for the population you should account for density. (The Netherlands has over 14 times the density)
10
You are the dumb thing here.
10
A house only needs a garage if you need a car. If you don’t need a car you don’t need a house with a garage. And a driveway works too.
9
America is a joke.
8
The irony of calling someone a cry baby while being one.
8
@eugenecbell . Only there’s a fundamental difference. Mine are based on facts and reality, and yours are based on your desperate wish for your current area to be best, and for your patriotism to said area be validated.
8
Which trees can help alleviate. Yet Houston isn’t doing much of those.
8
Yeah. You really just missed the forest for the trees…
7
It’s funny how that’s not remotely as much of a problem in most European cities. Maybe it isn’t cities but how America does cities that’s the real problem?
7
Problem with calling this propaganda is that propaganda by definition, is false. This is not propaganda.
7
@intpleb4206 , And how many car accidents and road rage incidents don’t happen on American roads. Conformation bias much?
7
He’s not belittling, he’s criticizing. And he hates the behavior, the infrastructure. Not the people. Get of your high horse.
7
Look who’s talking. He isn’t forcing anyone he’s critiquing, which he’s perfectly allowed to do.
6
@lucasfranca4543 , You do realise Amsterdam has 750km compared to Calgarys 1000km, despite Calgary having a 500000 bigger population? And the Netherlands has 30 000 km worth of dedicated bicycle paths... Not to mention other types of soft bicycle infrastructure. There is a reason you know why Amsterdam and the Netherlands consistently ranked the highest in bicycle friendliness in the world. And not Calgary.
6
You are missing some important caveats. Cars means roads, roads are expensive. Which is a major issue. Electric cars more often than not require batteries which are notoriously bad for the environment. Not to mention the obesity that “your” idea would cause. There’s a reason the US has the highest obesity rate. And as he said. Public transit works fantastically where it is done right.
6
Because he makes a point by comparing it to London…
6
@eugenecbell . Once again you are plain incorrect. Roads and more importantly their maintenance cost the US well over 300 billion dollars every year. A bill which will only increase as infrastructure that was built X amount of years ago is aging. And that’s just taxpayer money, not the costs for insurance a car and so on. There is a reason transit oriented countries rank higher than the US in every metric regarding happiness and health. It’s just objective fact that what the US is bad.
6
And driving is better?
6
@gullf1sk . Pollutes the most, costs the most, most unhealthy, least efficient. Right, the worst type of transport.
6
You say Europe has a debt problem yet it’s relatively few countries, and if you take for example the Netherlands. They have a pretty low debt ratio, and are simultaneously better on urban planning in just about every metric.
5
Suggesting his videos are propaganda?
5
@teedr6149 . What people think is largely irrelevant unless if it concerns how safe they feel. And even then it’s not up to car drivers to determine what feels safe and what’s not, they are sitting in a metal box designed to protect them, while peop,e outside that car is often less safe due to that same protection. What really matters are the numbers, and US roads are far deadlier than say Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. Even compared to the average among developed countries. The roads in the US are badly designed, that’s just fact. Presuming you don’t think death is a good thing. Not to mention the climate impact. And nobody advocates to tear down the entire US network and start from scratch. But for that death count to go down people need to get out of cars and into busses and trains and preferably onto their feet. This requires that proper sustainable neighborhoods and housing are built. To make public transit feasible. That these neighborhoods and everything in-between them are fitted and built with proper pedestrian and bike friendly infrastructure, so that it’s not open mowing season for the busses and cars that do need the road. And cost is irrelevant when you look at how much the current road infrastructure costs.
5
You don’t have an app for your ordinary public transit?
5
Because Europe is already doing so. Massive investment in freight over there. In the US there is freight rail, but the country is not even trying when it comes to passenger rail. And transit oriented infrastructure could definitely work in NA.
5
And the world is also run by lizards. You seriously believe corruption in the US is so widespread? Answer: it’s not.
5
“Government control” I mean come on dude…
5
Cheaper and less damaging is just a plain lie. Which I think you know.
4
Sounds like an ad… and if you just pick the right clothing and don't go too fast, you will be absolutely fine. I see people in suits bike to the office every day...
4
@specialneedsmolester1957 . Yes which last time I checked is a perfectly reasonable and even lawfully protected thing to do.
4
Everyone knows that. Including him. But just because something was built in a way doesn’t mean it can’t change for the better.
4
Did you watch the video?
4
It is only blocked off for thru-traffic. Nobody who is going into this area, is impacted in any major way. Everybody who wants to get to the other side of the city can and should use the highway. There is not logic to the rights argument.
4
Sure, as delivery vehicles they could be good. But certainly not all necessary cars should be AVs.
4
At least it works. The same can't be said for the entirety of North American car infrastructure that's in the process of bankrupting many cities.
4
You seriously believe that the US is so corrupt that billions and billions can disappear every year? The world is also run by lizards btw. And what part of this is communism? Or do you have no idea what communism actually means?
4
Wrong video buddy
4
@avonmusk3420 . You are what I believe is the definition of paranoid. If you just do the math, the economics of suburbia still don’t make sense.
4
If this tunnel was built in the US, which it it never would, I’m sure they would equip it with the worlds longest airport-style travelator, because you know… America…
4
Someone is offended. And has clearly not lived in a place any different from the place he’s advocating for.
4
No, the problem this entire video is about. Is how one American cities make excuses for not building transit. Two that density and the very structure of housing and such around potential transit, is as if not more important than that transit itself.
4
It’s in the description…
4
@eugenecbell . Take your seat next to the crazy guy screaming about UFOs
4
Funny how that’s not really a problem in developed countries.
4
Probably because they don’t live in a pedestrian friendly place.
3
You do realize he talks about motorways and roads too right? Nobody is advocating for car transport with only streets.
