  22. Taking away guns for those who don’t need it, limits guns that could end up in the hands of mass shooters. And the absolute majority of people don’t need guns, and in the US they’ve been shown to increase the chance of a household death related to if that household has a gun in the home.

So yes rights are based on needs, often needs to uphold democracy and such. The right to bear arms is a right in very few countries, and there are plenty of countries without that right that scores way higher on the freedom index, democracy index, happiness index than the countries with that “right”. And sure gun ownership doesn’t always correlate with gun violence. But it does correlate with either gun control, background checks, age limits, safety courses and such. Or limiting the amount of guns. Both of which Australia implemented, just like Iceland. Both of which the US hasn’t come close to implementing and ergo it still has massive amounts of gun violence.

  31. Two very different subjects. Britain was privatizing publicly owned rail companies. The EU simply wants to retain state owned railways, but giving them incentive to improve and lower prices due to competition.

  40. Every nation has the right to form their own security alliances and the right to not. Countries are allowed to join NATO as they please, and who knows maybe Russian aggression in Ukraine is enough to make Finland and Sweden reconsider their alliance neutrality.

While Ítalo for example can pick and choose its routes. It has an incentive to be nice and to be cheap, while UK operators don’t get to pick and don’t have to be nice since there is no competition.

  49.  @Vedrajrm . Hongkong MTR, Shinkansen, Tokyo Metro, and the many of the smaller individual rail transport companies operating in Tokyo and around Japan. Singapore Metro, London Underground. And many countries come close, for example the Netherlands.
