Funny how those things aren’t problems in places where public transit is properly funded. You are basing your entire opinion on a flawed example.

@TreeGod. . It’s their neighborhoods. Shouldn’t they get to decide?
8
There is this thing called busses. They are sort of like a car but carry way more people. And before you say they won’t work, you’ve as an American never experienced proper clean public transit.
7
You can have zoning laws without zoning stupidly.
7
There are plenty of examples where that doesn’t happen. NYC is the exception, not the rule.

@sebastienholmes548 . A city not suffering from pollution, a good streetscape, good urban planning which benefits environmental practices, where people don’t need to live on the streets, not ugly, embraces transit for the solution that it is, good mixed zoning. For example.
5
@sebastienholmes548 . In the long run. Everything has to do with urban planning.
5
@sebastienholmes548 . There is no good US city. So no it’s not leftist cities that suck. Considering Europe has better cities and is more left leaning than the US, there is really no truth in that statement.
4
@sebastienholmes548 . Yes, just not in North America. And you may think of them as subjective, but if you study Urban planning you learn that plenty of these things are measurable.
4
It’s like people don’t watch the videos…
4
Problem with that logic being that the very same modernization that you seem do fond of, is the problem.
4
Maybe some people can sacrifice their hobby for the greater good of society…
4
Which only happens in countries that suck. The US for example. In countries that are civilized, it’s not a problem.
3
@sebastienholmes548 . Fine. Thats right. Fine. Not good. And California isn’t good either.
3
@sebastienholmes548 I know. Nowhere in the US is.
3
@sebastienholmes548 I have indeed. And I can co directly say there are no major US cities with good and proper urban planning.
3
Free market creates Houston. A city that’s a world example of bad urban planning.
3
Not entirely. The European model is good.

Imagine their not being low income housing. Then the message is “you deserve to be homeless”. People are always going to make different amounts of money. Unless you want to live in a commie block; people need to be able to live and behave in a way that makes money valuable. That’s how money works…

Grow up

Well made transit can be as convenient for most trips.

@Papa-ur3ju . So you think building Industry, inherently polluting industry next to residential is good? Or building a standalone house inte middle of a commercial street?
1
@Papa-ur3ju . By the European model I was referring to mixed use zoning. You know, appropriate stores blended with residential and appropriate industry. No need for a car. And why should we limit this freedom? Well maybe because it works out better for everyone that we have a structured, functional, organized society instead of anarchism. An ideology you seem fond of.
1
@sebastienholmes548 . 2 Months later. Yes yes it is.
1
Is the US was a country in which people had decency and respect for each other, living next to a store would be perfectly fine. And are you seriously so afraid of people that your kids can’t play in a park?
1
@thomasfogerty3515 . Sure, but you were critiquing shared spaces. Parks for example. So why are not parks an option?
1
@thomasfogerty3515 . So shared spaces aren’t all that bad then?
1
@hamborger8546 . Which is not the true reason. Kidnapping is exceptionally rare in all developed countries. The only thing making people hypervigilant is their failure to look at statistics instead of their own unreasonable feelings.
1
What your are proposing is Houston. A notoriously bad city
1
@Freakingbean Because
1
As it is in most European cities.
