  2. The cop likely asked as a nice gesture to compel cooperation. The bullet hole in the window makes the car part of a crime scene, and gives the LEO probable cause to search. And seeing as failure to identify is an arrestable offense, that also gives the officer right to seize and search the vehicle. Not to mention the smell of weed.
