  1. The big problem is, they never deliver on the threats. A year ago, a mention of nuclear forces being placed on high alert was alarming. Now, it's just crying wolf over and over. It really doesn't help that it's been demonstrated that Russia's "unstoppable" delivery systems are actually very stoppable.

  2. Another factor is the delivery systems. Given that Ukraine proved that the "unstoppable" hypersonic missiles are very stoppable with 30-year-old interception systems, that's another point of failure. And if you're actually launching nukes, you want to be entirely certain they'll reach the target and detonate.

It's a contrast to the USSR, which made very few overt nuclear threats--they understood the gravity of that sort of threat, and knew they could compete in terms of conventional threats without needing to make the ultimate threat every time something happened they didn't like. It underlines the difference between an actual super power and the current mob of gangsters.

  7.  @fromgermany271  Thing is, a lot of ordinary Russians are showing a deep and sickening capacity for evil, whether that's the conscripts who are enjoying their rape / murder / torture party, or the people back home who whoop and cheer for genocide. Not all, nowhere near all, but enough to poison the reputation of "ordinary Russians".

  8. How many of those innocent young people have participated in rape, murder, torture, child theft and the shelling of civilians? Putin didn't single-handedly do all those things.
