@blindinglight8604 The problem with the Republicans as a whole is that they very consistently bend the knee to the crazies in their party, whenever those crazies show signs of having any popular appeal. It's not just the actual abusers who do the damage in a company or family, it's the wider circle of people who cover up for and enable the abusers.

@arturobianco848 Musk hasn't "innovated" anything, people in his companies do--usually, if you listen to the accounts of ex-employees, by making sure Musk himself is involved as little as possible. He's a company mascot, there to take credit and make the tech-bros swoon.

@dustyfloor1896 Fun bit of trivia--in the novel "Don Quixote", which first used the phrase "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", it was used an an example of something self-evidently impossible, which illustrated how detached from reality the character saying it was.

Why is it you think he deserves your support? He probably hasn't done whatever it is you think he's done to warrant it.

@turningpoint4238 I'm kind of impressed--I was under the impression that "Notice me, Musk-senpai!" bros like you had kind of slunk off in embarrassment after seeing him wreck Twitter. This may break your heart, but your waifu doesn't love you.

@arturobianco848 Any moderately charismatic person with a basic knowledge of tech could have filled the mascot role, and most of them would know their limits instead of entertaining delusions of being "Tony Stark, but less cool and less good".

@londoncalling1757 Other EV's are available, and they don't require supporting a techbro cult of personality.

@julianmorrisco Yeah....I remember in the early 2000's when the future of space exploration felt very uncertain and it was refreshing to see private citizens who were prepared to get us into space and get some of our eggs out of the single basket they were in. But now? A Mars colony run by Musk would end up like the one in "Total Recall", with oxygen being shut off because a colonist said something mean about him on Spacebook. 😀

@arturobianco848 Musk is proof that they can. Just be born as an apartheid nepo baby, make one or two good / lucky investment and once you've got enough of a cult of personality running, just fail upwards.

@1stCallipostle Nah, the Democrats have done good stuff for American citizens--much more than Republicans, who have little to offer other than culture wars and tax cuts for the rich. Step outside the Faux News bubble that you're currently trapped in, and you will see this binary choice is nonsensical.

@turningpoint4238 Hmm, why are you assuming Musk is synonymous with EV's and private space exploration, and that neither of them could exist without him? Tesla and SpaceX existed before Musk, and they are far from the only game in town in EITHER field, as much as their PR departments try to spin otherwise. How is pointing out Musk's many personal flaws and business failings and false claims an attack on the future? What about those companies makes them the sole destined saviours of mankind? Nothing. You've been suckered in by a PR campaign devised by advertising agencies (since corporations are never your friends), and you're showing every sign of being in a cult of personality, where any attack on the Glorious Leader could only possibly be motivated by envy. Repeat after me: "Tony Stark and John Galt are fictional characters."
