@JakeBroe For me, this reminds me of the situation in the 1930's. We were about 20 years out from a different war, one which was sold as a glorious defence of freedom, but which turned out to be a morally murky quagmire that didn't really produce anything except body bags. Everyone was disillusioned and thoroughly sick of war, so when someone else started getting belligerent, everyone was very eager to appease, see both sides of the story, not be seen as another warmonger, etc.

Remember: These tanks are utterly useless, will be effortlessly destroyed, and will have no effect on the battle. Also, sending them will be considered an escalation.
