@Pulstar232 Also, that STORING that stuff didn't come for free. Weapons need to be maintained, guarded and take up space in storage facilities that also need upkeep and staffing.

@katiehettinger7857 The actual cost is trivial. In the UK, we lost more money on Liz Truss' terrible budget, or on Johnson and co awarding contracts for ineffective PPE gear to their Oxford chums during the pandemic.

Putin stalls out the war, and uses hybrid war and useful idiots installed in places of power to cut aid. Trump gets back into the White House and pulls the US out of NATO, as promised. We get a frozen conflict and a Russian Peace (ie, one that lasts till Russia decides to come back for the rest), That's how Russia wins.

@Kira559 When you have a moment, take a look at how much billionaires and corporations dodging tax is costing you. Clue for the clueless: It's VASTLY more than you're sending to fight fascists. Also, you're going to need citations for all of those claims, but we all know you will not provide them.

I think some of it is based on the War on Terror. Like in the 1930's, we're about 20-odd years out from a war that was advertised as a glorious defence of freedom, but which turned into a murky quagmire that didn't seem to be producing anything except body bags, shell-shocked veterans and rising debt. Afterwards, everyone is very cynical of the concept of a good war, and doesn't trust politicians. A dictator starts rising, but everyone's slow to believe that THIS one is actually as bad as they say.
