The fptp system needs scrapping. Otherwise, the smaller parties on the right could form a coalition without the need to merge into one party.

 @StokieStokie well of course, it's the biggest trading bloc right on our doorstep. Brexit is pointless, UK membership of the EU was always a false problem.

@marycaine8874 there's no political union, the EU is about subsidiarity. However, I agree that a political union isn't desirable, nor will it ever happen... other countries won't let it happen.

@marycaine8874 it's still a pipe dream, verhofstadt won't get it his way. Several member states want to reform the EU so that it stays a trading bloc. In any case, you could also argue that the UN, Nato etc. also aim for political union.
