  1. TypeScript single-handedly saved web development IMHO. I agree about the type gymnastics thing, but that's still 1000000% better than not having types at all. I would not work for a company or project that doesn't use a typed language, and if I see a modern package that uses vanilla JS, that's a huge red flag. Probably enough to indicate to me that the developers aren't very good and might be worth considering alternative solutions.

  2.  @toooes  From many top-tier developers losing interest, and from vanilla JS pushing the industry towards more custom frameworks and low-code solutions that IMO would have resulted in noticeably worse efficiency and less interesting/dynamic web apps. iOS and Android development would have dominated even more completely, and React Native would probably not have taken off as much.
