This is insane. We're literally just pawns in some billionaire's side project because he was bored. I guess for most of us it's just entertainment, but it's a real shame for the creators who count on revenue from Twitter. And the absolute saddest part of this all is, he could have spent some of that $44B and literally eliminated homelessness or something - but he chose to waste it on his ego instead.

@thecorruptversion Thanks for the correction. Made the changes. Can you re-read and please make sure it's 100% correct now and worthy of a proper YouTube comment?

@deluca4750 Where did I say that everyone uses Twitter? And maybe not everywhere, but $44B would be enough to completely and forever eradicate homelessness from a major region like the Bay Area. But hey, at least we have a cool $1mm glowing X logo to look at while tripping over human feces and bloodied syringe needles. I really hope Elon gets joy out of it, because that's all it's good for.

@thecorruptversion I mean you wasted everyone's time correcting grammar on an internet comment, so I replied with an equally stupid comment.

@thecorruptversion Well first of all, yes, literally, we're all supposed to contribute to things like eliminating homelessness - and a chunk of that soccer ad budget does. It's called taxes, but ours are mismanaged and ironically the richest people pay proportionally the least. There's a fine balance between social welfare and not hindering the economy with taxes or excessive inflation, but spending 60% of the national budget on the military while billionaires go around doing shit like this simply because they're bored is quite contrary to that balance.

@thecorruptversion I guess there's no real point to this. Just an observation, I just found it wild that there are people who can spend $44B on a side project while there are so many issues and not enough money for them. Like yeah, I don't expect Elon or any other rich person to donate their money by will. But it's crazy that our system even allows people who can single-handedly buy a multinational corporation to exist at all, while both parties turn a blind eye to all the issues that desperately need solving.

@thecorruptversion I'm pro-capitalism, but like, nothing really works in its theoretical form. Communism failed, and would have destroyed China if they didn't loosen up the markets. Similarly, American capitalism would have failed if we didn't have all the socialist policies in place. And if anything, America thrived the most economically in the pre-Reagan era when socialist policies were the strongest. All in all, you need a balance - and we're way too far out into the boons of capitalism wild west right now.
