You really shouldn't compare a chemical explosion to a Nuclear explosion, they are massively different. Even a small Atomic bomb is going to be over 20,000 tons of TNT equivalent, let alone a Hydrogen bomb, which most people think of when talking about Nuclear weapons which would be over 4 to 20 Mega tons of TNT equivalent, that puts a very large hole in the ground, nothing is left to burn since it all disappears in a few seconds. I was down in San Antonio when they accidentally set off 204 Hydrogen bomb components with 700 lbs of explosive each, that's 142,800 lbs. It put a mushroom cloud between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 miles into the air approximately 1 1/2 miles from me. Fortunately, no one was killed, although it did blow out store plate glass windows 20 miles away.
