  1. The Great Temple of Karnak was built by his father Seti. On its columns is evidence of workers plastering over the cartouche of his father = and recutting his own in its place. You can tell this via parts of the plaster flaking away and via special light cameras which allow you to see what can not by the naked eye. Similarly there are the remains of Middle Kingdom pyramids as another example whereby their polished casing stones were stripped away to build something else and the workers left Rameses's cartouche behind as if to say "I did this."
