  1. My family immigrated to the Carolina area in 1738. They had been in Switzerland. I’m not sure why. They settled in North Carolina and assimilated completely. Our name went from Stutz to Stutts almost immediately and later, in the 1820s, some of the family moved by wagon train to North Alabama. This was due to land being offered to men who fought in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, or made guns for the military. My four times great uncle did so, along with his whole family. My great grandfather moved to north Alabama after the civil war. It’s interesting.

  2.  @stevenbr4612  yes. Lutheran in my family. Then we seem to have switched to Methodist. They were in search of freedom to practice their religion as they chose. But they did not keep anything German. The Scots kept more. I’m a lot of Scots as well. Kennedy Rifles were big for the family.

  3. My family immigrated here in 1738. They were gunsmiths as well and settled in North Carolina.
