  1. Technically, there is a group of first class men that make the full 80 mile march. The rats meet them and do the last 20 miles. I've done the 20 miles twice.

  7. About point 3, VMI offers a much better experience for forming a person than the sex, drug laden institutions of higher Cultural Marxism indoctrination. If I had to go back to being 18 in this world, I would choose VMI over the "regular college experience."

  9. 11:53 i used to love giving sweat parties (throughout the ratline each class hosts a sweat party for the rats). In my day, it was 3x5 sessions. The first session was nothing but getting on the ground and getting back up (think burpies on crack); second session was nothing but ab work; third session was push-ups (towards the end of the session I would do sets of ten pushups with them and give them a few seconds of some other exercise). Fun times.

  10. Couple of things, no prior NCO's, or prior military, are not intimidated by this. I had a BR that was in the Marines and fought in Iraqi Freedom, and VMI's academics are top tier in difficulty. My mother worked with a doctor who had twin sons. One went to UVA. The other to VMI. They both pursued the same degree. When they compared coursework the UVA student said he couldn't handle the academics. What the video doesn't tell you is that rats go through the ratline while taking 18 credit hours.

  13. Couple of things the "hazing" did for me: 1. I know that I can overcome any situation I am in. 2. I know I can push myself pretty hard if I need to. How does that not help in the long run?

  17. Yeah that's a bummer. No matter what you think of the Civil War, VMI participating in that battle was unique not only in American history but an extremely rare event in global history.

  18. They lose their voice all the time. Band Co came back early (so we had the opportunity to try to block out a bunch of this stuff while we tried to sleep) and I had a bunch of buddies on the cadre staff. I was making nightly runs to the gas station to pick up logenzes, throat spray, etc.
