  1. I can understand both sides. I can understand that Russia sees NATO accepting Eastern European countries as a threat-it makes the border indefensible and could allow nuclear missiles closer to Moscow than Cuba is to Washington DC- and I can understand why those countries would want to join NATO--to prevent the atrocities that were suffered since 1945 from happening again. Ultimately, I side with NATO because I am an AntiCom and Putin is seemingly far down that path.

  2. The majority of human history had countries succeed and fail without a central bank. So, it can be done. Heck, the US didn't have a central bank for a good part of its early history.

  6. Fair point. However, if you can dollarize then can't you also de-dollarize? Maybe dollarization is the best, quickest, short-term way to have a stable currency and focus on other reforms.
