@craigb3154 I would not retire in Argentina, but its great to visit as a tourist. Mendoza is a medium sized city, nowhere near as large as Buenos Aires. It is clean, well laid out, and has a great vibe. it is located in the heart of the Malbec wine region, so it is fairly sophisticated as wine tourism brings an international crowd. Food & wine scene is great. Again, my opinion, visit Argentina. Do not get too attached to it as an investment/business/retirement permanent destination. Its unstable, its government is insane, its Covid lockdown situation was extremely harsh and you really cant imagine what will happen next, but you know it won't be good.

I have never had one of their wines. Another reason to go there! I understand it is one of the oldest wine growing regions on Earth.

@victoriakleber1397 The thing is that the people have gotten better at managing the peso, they just reprice constantly in dollars. So that kind of amazing deal is less common, its an unofficial dollar economy now at about all levels.

@wdc1040 We have some seasonal winds from the Andes (zonda, google it they can be strong, there are some good vids), but in general its no more dusty than say, Phoenix AZ. I am a local so either I don't notice the things leaving children or they do not leave me unwanted gifts that I have to buy. It certainly does not happen in nicer restaurants. Anywhere south of Texas will have more of that "local flavor" than many gringos (or I) like but that is what it is. Mendoza has less of that sort of nonsense than Buenos Aires (and most other south of Texas) cities IMO. Here I go, saying something nice about somewhere in Argentina! What is the world coming to, LOL?. Its a special day, everyone go buy lottery tickets.

Do you rent or live with family? I'm from Mendoza, you could squeak by in Mendoza if you didn't have to add rent, never ate out, and didn't ever buy any luxury good, but it would be a bit grim. I honestly didn't know Cordoba was that inexpensive.

@Aletheia_Z In Argentina? Do not use a bank for anything! Change money with people (shopkeepers, locals you trust) and keep the money with you or somewhere safe (or in a foreign bank in a country that does not constantly rob the banks). Do not use a bank in Argentina! The average street money changer is much more honest and has better rates.
