Scandinavia is anti-service LOL. Its like they take it as a personal affront of you can manage to get anything out of a "service" employee. Don't be mad at me, i liked my time in the north but there is an anti-service culture there. If you get any help its because that employee is doing you a personal favor. And they let you know it. France has better "service".

@jeffb.140 How do you know the bus was on time after dropping you off at your hostel? I assume you were no longer on said bus? Or were you so taken by the driver you followed him? Scandinavians are polite and orderly and very punctual (from my south American perspective amazingly punctual), but customer service I find wanting. I stayed at a nice hotel (the one that calls itself "the nicest") in Copenhagen and even the hall lights were calibrated to turn themselves off, leaving guests who weren't Olympic sprinters standing in a dark hallway trying to figure out how to get to their rooms. I loved living in Copenhagen and I liked the crazy Danish ways, but good service? Its just not something they do. Probably something to do with Holger Danske or Jantes Law.

Which one would you suggest? I cant think of one myself. I like Europe just fine but service is generally bad. Part of it is probably a culture of no tipping, but its also a mentality.

100% true. Also true for really touristy areas. No reason to be nice when everyone is a one time customer.

@jeffb.140 Yeah I agree, Asia and some places in the Middle East are best I think. Europe -> Parts of the Americas -> Parts of "Arabia/ME" -> Asia. Of course there are exceptions and one can receive unexpectedly good or unexpectedly bad service anywhere (and it can be especially bad in big cities and tourist traps). I can deal with bad service, I actually think its funny sometimes. And you can certainly relax more in non-tipping cultures. Scandinavians for instance are never standing around with their hands out waiting for tips. You get what you get, and you like it or not. Oh, and Scandinavians are my type LOL, so the scenery is generally worth the price of admission.
