  1. Half of Argentina has an Italian passport in their back pockets. But you still cannot get rid of your citizenship in Argentina, you just have another passport. I am one of the 4% of people from Argentina who does NOT qualify for Italian citizenship, argh!

  2.  @JamesSmith-qv9qo  I don't have enough Italian ancestors, they are the wrong gender, and they came very early (for Argentina, before 1900) so the line of descent is broken. The family is also missing documentation. My dad (a type A lawyer) tried to get his Italian passport, no dice. Strangely for Argentina my mom is 0% Italian, I am surprised I can't lose my nationality for this reason alone LOL. From what I understand Italian law made it much easier about 20-25 years ago (or so). Back then, during yet another severe crisis of state in Argentina, tons of (educated) people my parents age went for second passports in Italy and many received them. Now everyone moves to Spain. Barcelona is becoming a suburb of Buenos Aires.

  3.  @JamesSmith-qv9qo  I am not that hot on being Italian, it seems sort of like the Argentina of Europe. I have a US passport and we are going to become St Lucians thanks to the advice here. I want a travel document from somewhere small and disorganized. I have German ancestry too, and women could not pass that on until the 1970s (iirc, fact check me if you are trying for that citizenship or call Nomad Capitalist, to me it seemed very complex/impossible to become German), so I guess Italy is progressively less sexist, LOL.
