@-king1264 might as well throw in my two cents. School with English focus, great teachers and paid extra lessons. Watching English channels helped massively to reinforce what was taught. On top of that, mom expressed interest in my education and had me talk to foreign tourists occasionally as well as read to her and translate. The woman actually learned basic english her self along the way.

Early warning system and denial of assets to Russia amongst other things.

As Lithuanian, We already said no once. And really don't want to be seen as Russia and steal foreign territory.

There would be no need for army if Russia wasn't an aggressive neighbor.

@OXiG96 Russia as a nation has a long history of invading neutral countries, including that time when it created USSR along with its puppet countries. And as you pointed out, Russia since 1991 has invaded two countries. And while argument could be made for Georgia, there isn't one for Ukraine that hasn't been a threat. It has also threatened two neutral countries without privation, thus pushing them into NATO. So yes, if Russia wasn't a threat to its neighbours, NATO would crumble into nothing. Thank the Russia for keeping NATO alive with their hostility.

Lithuania is in East Europe.

Lithuania isn't interested in provoking any wars.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Russia will never forget us. Especially after the insult of being the first to leave USSR and making a path for others to follow.

@paradoxal69420 Russia is like that abusive ex who doesn't understand why you broke up.

I don't see how Russia would lose Kaliningrad. Stealing land isn't something very well liked in modern times. UN is meaningless. Russia also has security seat there capable to veto any attempt at removing it. But in everything else, you are right.

@OXiG96 1. NATO isn't openly hostile to Russia. 2. Maybe Russia should think about why countries that used to be part of its empire and USSR running off to join NATO. 3. Your example is rather telling on who you are comrade. Maybe you shouldn't treat the former territories as still being part of your country but treat them as independent countries. 4. Can you provide proof of said promise? NATO was on its way to disband before it got rejuvenated by Russian agression 8 years ago. 5. It's fun that you preemptively trying to counter me. That means you know that your argument has massive falsehoods. Yes, no one was forced to join NATO. Our governments requested to join NATO protection. As opposed to being forced to join USSR against our will. Both sides perform military exercises at each others borders. Pot meet kettle. Maybe USA should give Baltics nukes to counteract the ones Russia placed in Kaliningrad, or I guess also known as Konigsberg. I don't understand your complaint about being a battlefield. We would be a battlefield regardless which side we were to join. And the last time we declared neutrality, USSR annexed us. Might as well side with those who ain't gonna annex is and who share our views.

West shouldn't fall down to Russian level of territory theft. Whether people of Kaliningrad want to be independent or join Poland or stay with Russia should be up to them. Germany has no claim to Kaliningrad and Lithuania already refused it once. Historical territory claims are bs. Everyone can claim something from someone.

Right, cause any time some country invades you, you need to put down arms and surrender. The possibility of peaceful resolution ended when Russia chose to invade Ukraine.

You know that both are not mutually exclusive?
