All of Avicenna,s translations of Greek works came to Europe in the Middle Ages and kick-started our own renascence .Al-Ghazali pushed Islam back to religious focus and conservatism. It also coincided with the Mongol conquests. Arabia basically acted as an airbag for Europe from the Mongols. Baghdad had over a million inhabitants and the largest Universities and Libraries in the world. It also had an canal and aquifer system maintained and advanced since Babylonian times making it an agricultural paradise. To this day Baghdad and the surrounding lands (now desert) have not recovered. Islam turned conservative and insular which suited the status quo for the leaders and stagnated for 1,000 years. It’s a great lesson on what could await us post monoculture collapse.
