The USA watched this war from the sidelines for a long time and intervened only when (i.e. at the very end) they realized that Russia had destroyed the fascist troops of Germany and was 5 minutes away from the final victory. It was Russia, not the USA, that destroyed the German army, drove the remnants of this army from its territory across Europe to Germany and finished them off there!!! The USA simply did not want to be left out of the festive table where they would divide the European pie, so they intervened when everything was already clear
