Brake fluid is an excellent paint remover! I knew a guy that covered his 50’s Lincoln with a home made cover. However he didn’t notice that some brake fluid had been spilled on it. Took the cover off in the spring and the roof was missing a paint in the shape of a large circle

If Ray was working on Canadian cars he’d be reaching for that hammer and a torch all the time 😢 Rust never sleeps 😮

One spec of hard dirt, sand in those oil jugs and it could find a main bearing and destroy it in time. I have the luxury of doing my own oil changes using sealed containers so zero dirt. After getting buggered oil drain plugs from oil change places I quit going years ago. If you want it done right do it yourself or get Ray to do it
18
Line wrenches are used so the wrench doesn’t slip off constantly when hard to see and covered in hydraulic fluid. He’s correct you don’t need one if a regular one is working
17
Every time I do an oil change the wind picks up blowing the old oil off the drain pan and when filling up the wind blows the oil onto the engine. Before and after it becomes calm without any breeze
16
Definition of insanity is trying the same thing over again and expecting a different outcome! Thanks Ray we’ll have to change that definition now
13
On older cars with longer ignition wires sometimes you could see a lightening show opening the hood at night
12
Ray will have the alphabet people coming to his shop for a rear end probe 😅
10
VC gaskets are new and not compressed like the old leaky ones. The internal part of the gasket is not replaced and is compressed so will it leak? Does the new perimeter gasket thickness prevent the old gasket bits from sealing?

I don’t think Ray would like being a mechanic in Canada where about every bolt or nut is a fight to get off. The corrosion you see here is very minimal in comparison. We get better gas mileage when pieces and bits fall off 😮
7
You’re watching too much ChrisFix
7
You can remove the seized wheel by dropping it down after the nuts are removed and if that doesn’t work drive it slightly forward or reverse
7
Yup just drive it with brake warning lights on and others. Ignore all maintenance because you’re just hauling your kids in it 😂 Will they learn from this???
7
Try a 3/4 air gun with a 1” air line. Serious torque

I had to replace the rear end in my 02 Camaro SS due to failure, I was told it was cheaper that way. Big mistake, they put a 98 rear in it and the posi was not the same and gives a bit of fish tail while the original went perfectly straight. Different type of posi? Both spin both tires, the original just did it better. However the replacement began to howl later so Yukon gears fixed the problem. Hard to find a mechanic that wants to set up a rear end.

@TerryLawrence001 that's worse than squeezing Preparation H in a toothpaste tube.

I’ve been told gear clamps on rad hoses for plastic rads can crack the plastic. It’s why they use spring clamps
5
Owning a vehicle allows government to fleece you. It’s one of their best money makers
5
This is why it’s worth hiring Ray to do this work!!! Constantly leaning over and struggling with crap can get frustrating and make you achy. Big difference when you do this work on a regular basis vs doing it once and making all the mistakes that one can on this repair!!!! Always looking easier than it actually is. I get a kick out of customers having previously gone to other garages and then wind up having Ray make it right. THAT sounds good Having Ray Make It Right!!
5
Best thing to do is not give them your money 💰
4
Ontario vehicles are good if you don’t drive them in winter and drive around the potholes 😮
4
In the old days a fix for this would be a cap and rotor or plug or plug wire.
4
We need chips to make coffee makers work, pathetic really. Thanks for skipping the three hours wait on the phone. She has no idea what you’re talking about!!! At least you’re not talking to someone in Oakistan
4
Never go to quickie oil change shops, go to a real garage like Rays
4
They were too lazy to chase the damaged threads 😮
4
People are afraid to leave their cell phones at home, millennials just terrified!! Constantly thinking of disaster scenarios that could happen to them when they don’t have a phone. Poor babies. How do they act when the power goes out??? Haaaaa!!!

The straight six is a great engine. Toyota HiLux in Central America works best and has no pollution controls which makes it reliable
3
Confidence and knowledge to remove transmissions etc is a valuable asset. First time DIY guys can spend many hours and $$ to do the same thing. Getting it together and functioning correctly even more so 😊
3
When I was Rays age working on my car by the time something broke requiring door panel removal the car was pretty much roached and using a couple self tapping screws to hold the door panel was no big deal 😅
3
I see Mercedes using different fastener heads to thwart backyard mechanics but that doesn’t last long once chain stores carry those sockets
3
My Camaro had the diff howl twice until I replaced the gears with Yukon gears and upgraded the ratio 😅
3
How many days till the new Dorman part fails? Bets??
3
Have a 2010 Altima with CVT. Over 200,000 miles and working fine. Just need to replace the fluid and once replaced rotation sensor.
3
There is a difference when working under time restraints and having unlimited time to repair something. Welding the bolt is quicker than driving to buy another bolt.
3
That and the actual amount of tools required to do the job
3
I find that engine covers retain heat under them and degrade hoses and electrical wire insulation. Best to remove them and throw them into the plastic recycling bin
3
@Danimal100 and a bigger hammer
3
As it’s easy to think of extra work for others, why not find a 4 cyl diesel engine and make a stationary generator for your home?😊
3
Looks like a nicely abused vehicle. Did you sanitize it before getting in? Don’t want bed bugs 🐜
3
Just cut a viewing window through the outer skin and just putty it up later or use plexiglass so that the customers kids can watch how it works.
3
You probably don’t recall being younger , the AAMCO ads for transmissions 😮
3
Can always have a wrench in hand and when they start it you keep tapping the bumper with the wrench 😂
3
Straight six Jeep engines are good for lots of miles.

We can unsubscribe and resubscribe to get 5000😊

Should have a machined aluminum pan for the price of these cars. These are basic failures that should never happen
2
I’d much rather have Ray work on my vehicles than many of the hammer techs out there. Over decades I’ve experienced a lot of horrific work. Best not to have your vehicle fixed by a shop that pays the mechanic by the job. Some chain shops do this and you get unnecessary repairs. There is enough work there that shops don’t have to rip you off to be economically viable
2
Use spider spray on surfaces those crickets might walk on. Like most bugs they lick their feet and will have the poison on their feet and soon die. Works for flies getting in windows too 😊
2
Reminds me of the old days of running wires for a new cassette deck and Cerwin Vega speakers. Luckily back then not much power was going to the speakers or we’d get zapped or start a fire 🔥 waiting to fast forward to get to your favourite song. We’ve come a long way and that stuff cost less today
2
Would the alignment numbers be in spec with new tires installed on the vehicle? I noticed wear on these tires
2
Which wheel bearing is best, one with fewer but larger ball bearings or one will more ball bearings but of smaller diameter?
