The era when you could tell what make and model of car at 500 yards away ๐

Once seriously considered buying a 57 Cadillac hearse ๐ฎ

When gas cost 35 cents a gallon why not drive large ๐Those days long gone. We still have Suburban and Yukon in the GM line ๐
2
Cadillac hearse for the man that could not afford a Cadillac in life ๐ฎ

ย @rovervitesse1985ย my father had a 76 LeSabre with the 455, coldest A/C ever. I was tough on it but it just kept going.

I bet Ed would like to come to North America where volumes of older cars are available. I once had a 53 Caddy coupe ๐

The bumpers should have shock absorbers behind them ๐

Mass production cars look similar and are built the same using plastic clips to retain the complete plastic front end (and rear). It flies off when hit and profit margins are huge for parts ๐ฎI liked the 1950โs logos and hood ornaments that can gut a Jay Walker
1
They are all mixed up, Bentley with VW parts ๐ฎI liked the early Ford logo with Ford surrounded in an oval filled with deep blue glossy enamel.

AI is in its infancy, later it will be as influential as the cell phone. Humans will become redundant ๐ฎ

What's ridiculous are the tiny parking spots. Of course economy air have the smallest seats unbelievable in the 70's. Everything has shrunk except prices.

Volvo has a male symbol but their name is close to???๐ฎ

Bigger is better when youโre involved in a serious vehicle collision. Anyone whoโs been injured can attest to this ๐ฎ

Had a 78 Caddy coupe with nice leather and accessories and 425 engine ๐

Those 5 mph bumpers were good for higher speeds:) Once you're used to driving this larger car you can gauge within an inch or so the clearance! You can also push other cars out of the way:)
1
These were old people cars. I began driving then and muscle cars were in๐Views have changed after decades
1
Crisis, what crisis? We always drove large cars regardless from the 60โs on up ๐

Lincoln man โwasโ a Kennedy ๐

I too know someone who has a 56 Lincoln and lots of parts

People are dying to get a ride in one ๐ฎ
1
Get yourself a 2002 Camaro SS OR Z28 and experience more power ๐
1
Youโll fit if you push those dinky cars out of the way ๐

Iโm used to driving these and could fly in there easily.๐ 455 ci ?

ย @rovervitesse1985ย I don't recall them as slow but definitely not a sports car. Could spin the tires. Fast on the highway if 120 mph or so is considered fast but the suspension let you know that was fast. At regular highway speeds they floated along just like the Cadillacs. Without the emissions and growing populations the days of blue and black smoke from exhaust would choke you. I remember either changing lanes to avoid the stink or backing off or passing them. Oil changes weren't really a thing back then, you just added oil.
1
ย @rovervitesse1985ย for sure earlier cars were faster due to higher compression and no added smog devices. You can remove the old air pump etc. and build that 455 to be a monster:)
1
The old Cadillacs I had really had solid bumpers and underneath you could see shock absorbers attached to them to allow compression and bring the bumpers back out again. In later times many crash up derbyโs did not allow these full size cars as they always won ๐ฅ

Iโd take this Cadillac over any modern Mercedes anytime!!! I believe there still is a place in Barrie Ontario Canada that has many Cadillacs to part out
1
I had a Caddy that measured about 21 feet, Brougham de Elegance
1
Find the odd one in Canada but most badly rusted out

If you know how to park you donโt need sensors ๐

Trying to do donuts was, well just sad๐ข
