Some engine shine and an external buff then put a for sale sign on it ๐

I take care of my LS1 in in my 02 Camaro ๐ has lots of miles on it but runs great. I would never want a VVT engine itโs just asking to be broken ๐
3
The owner was this close to collecting fire ๐ฅ insurance ๐
2
Sounds like GM doesnโt want you to see the failure that you just showed ๐. Fire the GM bean counters
2
You rarely get anything good from auctions when itโs a vehicle. When you canโt sell a vehicle on any other venue it goes to auction
2
I would have loved to see the drivers face when the engine grenaded ๐
2
Nothing like a challenge ๐

More of those little sugary donuts and youโll be able to rotate the engine ๐ especially the donuts you find at fairs that are hot and dipped in cinnamon sugar ๐

Fun to see complicated engines stripped ๐ I like basic pushrod V8 engines, more dependable and doesnโt break the bank. Of course if I had unlimited funds ๐

LS1 Engine tear downs???๐ฎ Iโm interested to know what the common failure is on the LS1. I have a lot of miles on mine and I always change the oil regularly with synthetic Castrol ๐
1
ย @1958Cadillac-v2gย check your owners manual.

Could make lots of mailbox posts from crankshafts ๐

The death trap cars ๐ฎIโm always willing to pay more to drive with more between me and the road ๐
1
Slap in some new bearings and call it a runner ๐
1
This engine must have burned out the oil?
1
This engine would look nice with polished aluminum valve covers ๐
1
V10 puzzle ๐
1
If some of the parts were that hot before failure it must have burnt all the oil out because oil flashpoint is under 500f
1
โControlled spill โ then you have a landing that is a controlled crash ๐ฅ

Koreanesium material for the parts ๐
1
Mr Ho Thanh Che on YouTube takes engine wrecks and gets them working, amazing to watch ๐
1
Iโm surprised that you donโt have a one inch air line ๐ฎ
1
Quality Dodgy parts ๐

Interested to know who and where these engines are manufactured
1
A little black powder down a couple spark plug holes and some fuse could get that crank a turninโ๐ฎ
1
Full of insurance scams when it comes to vehicles. Also minor fender benders and physio scams one reason my insurance lowered certain coverage because a specific demographic was scamming the system. My insurance agent told me ๐ฎ
1
Welcome to aging, I canโt remember old dates or some recent ones ๐ Maybe my priorities are not to remember unimportant information ๐
1
Encase all the parts in clear resin and make a table ๐ฎ
1
Truck engine ๐ข
1
At least you know there was oil in it ๐ฎ
1
Canโt keep running newer cars when overheating. Yup older cast iron engines can take more abuse. Good ole days are gone ๐ข

Eric is going down the Porsche rabbit hole ๐ณ๏ธ

JB Weld should have it running in no time ๐
1
A friend of mine tried to blow a 70 Cadillac engine by leaving a brick on the accelerator. He came back the next day to find it ran out of gas ๐
1
Two piece crank for cylinder deactivation ๐
1
Once the parts blocked the oil pickup the engine was toast ๐
1
More complexity is more parts making more failure points ๐ข
1
The full orchestra played while at full throttle ๐ฎ.

The Chrysler slant six is before your time but another tough straight six ๐
1
Decades ago I blew my 53 Cadillac engine at an intersection. Rpmโ s went to 120 and blue smoke completely obscured the intersection. Chewed up piston in oil pan and holes through cylinders ๐ฎ
1
Should get a tank for driving over trees ๐
1
I wouldnโt want an engine from a vehicle thatโs been in a bad front end collision ๐ฎMy thinking is that it could bend ever so slightly internals that will with mileage prematurely wear it out. Is this a thing ?๐
1
The donโt screw with me bumper ๐
1
I had a 91 Jeep Cherokee years ago from new. Developed a ticking noise under warranty. They replaced the top end and noise didnโt go away so they replaced the short block. Lasted me almost 400,000 kms before developing a tick so I sold it. Excellent vehicle and easy to work on ๐
1
The car drove to were it is now. Hear that a lot
1
Do you use a heater that burns free used oil? I would assume you get lots of old oil
1
A case of JB Weld and youโre back in business ๐ฎ
1
My 2002 Camaro SS is rated at 28 mpg highway with the LS1๐this three cylinder should do better for mileage
1
Those bits of metal floating around the engine keep the internals nice and shiny ๐
