I would assume you’d appreciate British officers swords with provenance? A piece of kit with them as they made history 😊

For “lasts”, the 19th Alberta Dragoons carried out the last Canadian cavalry charge of WW1

History is written by the victors!

Have you done battle of Wagon Hill? I have a particular interest in it with Maj Miller-Walnut Gordon Highlanders.

I made it I made it, oh I didn’t make it 😢. If it wasn’t for bad luck…….

Capt EC Midwinter RE was at the battle and wrote a telegram I have with the last words being “Great Fight “. He was to control the Sudan Railway till 1922. He was one of Kitcheners Boys
2
How about Maj Miller-Wallnut Gordon Highlanders and Sir General Beauchamp Duff, Commander in Chief of the Indian Army

Most exciting British battles are ones that at a moment can go either way. Easy victories are not celebrated as this and the charges in the Crimea and others of course 😊

The 19th Alberta Dragoons were the last Canadian cavalry regiment to charge in WW1

I recall reading that the RHG with their 1848 pattern swords cut men from head to waist belt!

Canada won 😊

@TheIceman567 and you failed history. Confederation was 1867 but canada existed well before that.
1
@TheIceman567 best you learn, Upper and Lower Canada circ 1791. Also parts from mid 1500's known as Canada. If you're going to criticize do it right!!
1
@TheIceman567 called "Canada". what don't you understand???? Are you 12?
1
@TheIceman567 I said Canada won which is a correct statement. The Americans attacked Canada. Stubborn aren't you when you nit pick and get it wrong. I doubt you know what the 7th Hussars were doing in Canada.
1
@TheIceman567 you can’t handle the facts.

Saying either one brings argument 😅. Just had to poke the bear 🐻

The 31st Regiment of Foot was led by Captain Longworth at the Battle of Sobraon. The higher ranking officers were either dead or wounded. His Wilkinson sword is etched with his name and family crest. David Fitzgerald Longworth. He willed his effects including his swords to his cousin in Eastern Canada

You had to be physically tough to be a British soldier in India. Disease and dysentery probably killed more than in battle
1
@TheHistoryChap yes the officers who knew how to fight and manage all sorts of obstacles. I have a named infantry officers sword who fought through the India Mutiny and chased and caught rebels. Difficult to find a sword positively connected. I do like the British India swords that did not conform to regulation patterns.

Had the British realized the true value of America they would have poured more military resources into it and it would be flying the Union Jack today 😅

I’m really enjoying these videos 😊

Burnaby, yes do a video 😊

@TheHistoryChap GREAT !! I have particular interest in the RHG in this time frame and the troopers used the 1848p sword said to cut men from head to waist belt. I just wish I could recall the source. They carried long heavy swords with HC type officer guard and the pommels were brass.
