  1. In my early days, I didn’t check the rubber gasket in the spin-on oil filter and put the new one in over it. Yep, 6-quarts of oil comes right out pretty quick when you start the car!!!

  2. Okay I’m going to need names of any mechanics that are better than you because I don’t know any! (At least for Toyotas!!) I started my own oil changes in the 80’s and proud to say there’s no routine maintenance I can’t do. (I take care of our families 7 vehicles…6 Toyotas, 2008-2021 and a Hyundai). Have a plan, have more fluids on hand than what you expect to use, take your time, double check your work, and always have a back-up plan if things go south (a friend or a mobile mechanic) I use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of what’s due when and follow Ahmed’s advice, not any yahoo on car forums. Oh, if you love this stuff, a Quick Jack is a great Christmas present to yourself!!
