  1. You can see why Catholicism would have become so important to her. It was a rock in a world that changed for her very suddenly, and something of her mother's that she could hang on to. Further, in England she was now a bastard, whereas the Catholic world continued to maintain she was heir and princess, and that her parents were still legally married.
