Circus peanuts sound like the banana sweets you get over here in Britain, there is medicine formulated to taste like it which is given to children, memorable as a good many people seem to be allergic to it and the notorious old cods liver oil has a more pleasant taste. They also come as little banana shaped sweets but are less often taken in such a form as you are not compelled to have them, they seem mostly of use in playing an unpleasant trick on someone or inducing children to vomit. I have very little clue as to why they are still in production.
