The middle ages being intellectual stagnant is a misconception, literacy was tied to knowing Latin so it didn't take into account the sizable portion of the population could read and write only in their own language. The middle ages also saw a renaissance in social relations and moral norms. The boomers are much much worse than pretty much any generation in western history (previous generations with similar circumstances just had more kids and thus spread out the prosperity), it is as if there was a generation reasonable for the the dark age migrations, western civilisation may well die in Europe at least because of their actions and mindset.

It's probably just the influence of bad parenting and getting all their information and understanding of reality from the TV.

I would recommend the Bible and once you've got through that maybe some of the church fathers, if theology is a bit heavy then history is probably the best way to get a similar message, Thomas Sowell is excellent, Sex in the middle ages is a good book which also shows you the moral and social structure of the period, the populist delusion is a good political book and generally a good deal of Victorian works are going to implicitly be of a Christian and reasonable mindset much superior to those even in existence today. Most churches are compromised, universities are a vector of infection as is the education sector and basically no one around can see the looming problems ahead let alone the ones they are mired in, which is isolating but Rudyard Kiplings 'if' should be of worth as really are any of his works. Remember to be critical as it is necessary not to be swept along like a lemming in a river.

Because then he would have to stop being decadent.

In Europe at least it pretty squarely goes back to the lost generation as it was a great generation but all the best (and really also the good and the alright) people died and we were left with the lucky, the cowards, the socialists and the dregs. Without WW1 and influenza the boomers likely would have been beaten enough to turn out alright.

He's an academic and thus is susceptible to fits of extreme idiocy but he is generally one of the few out of the box thinkers today, his video on managerial capitalism is probably his best.

The war and depression generation, so called because they kept to themselves and didn't give the older generation any trouble nor give their children the sound trashing they deserved when they went off the rails.

There's the small issue of it sounding shit.

They had it hard, they had expectations placed on them and weren't allowed to be totally empty and hedonistic like their peers. Let's all play toy set violins.

The reactionaries are the future, a degenerate society with no bonds or moral principals is already dead and just waiting for the ants scuttling amidst its bones to recognise that fact. Wigism is utter nonsense and we aren't on some inevitable march of progress, recognising the fundamental issues with things is not bad because thing new. Go back to reddit.

It was one of the first cases of America not knowing how to fight wars, if you want to win a gorilla war you either take advantage of the interest groups within the enemy (mostly works on clan based organisations), use the British internment system, git good at intelligence (never worked to date) or just kill all the civilians and let the rebels starve to death like basically everyone before the 19th century did.

Errr..... so that you can categorise the differences.

Like anything they wrote the history books and defined the problems, if you are reasonably used to the historical periods referenced then you know that they were much less socially dysfunctional than our own society. The Soviet likewise claimed that the tsars were the worse things ever when by basically every metric the Soviets were worse and the French revolutionaries considered themselves hero's as the committed genocide against their own people in rural areas and steeped Paris in the blood of many of their own supporters alone with untold innocents, I dread to think what the supposedly worse system of before was, oh wait we know and it was pretty poor but looked like a practically functioning society in comparison to what the revolutionaries created. If we wanted an improvement of the values of the interwar period then another religious revival would have been more than enough.

No, free will exists.

Given the rate of mental disorders in the current generation no things probably wouldn't have been the same, nothing to dampen the hippy spirit more than a ton of autistic people pointing out the obvious flaws in their worldview, not giving a shit about performative empathy and gravitating towards a socially and morally prescriptive society in order to be able to make sense of their proper place within it.

For people to watch the video must not be daunting, it is a pretty excellent system for that.

You are bonkers if you think what we have now is sustainable or that genocide 20th century ideologies are going to do anything but make things worse. Gen Z is fucked as they have been indoctrinated by the education system, live in internet echo chambers and have very weak social bonds, and I say that as a gen Z'd myself. The only future is in wisdom and the only wisdom is in the past, we have less than a generation to put ourselves back on the civilizational continuum or else that civilisation itself will be permanently lost to much of the west, I dread to think what we will have lost not matter what we do now, but at the moment it does look like we are simply headed for collapse and disintegration.

They created a generation in their own image in other words.
