  1. It's very likely that the islanders weren't wholly speaking out their arse's about the whole 'Polynesian traditions' thing and that the guy's were kiddy fiddlers from the start. Polynesian tradition is in reality just the type of culture that the mutineers set up considering that the first women were kidnapped natives and the first men were of the type to commit treason and condemn their fellows to a slow death at sea over some snatch.

  6. A note on the Polynesian culture thing. It is unfortunately likely they they were telling the truth when they said that such behaviour was a long standing tradition, the first women on the island (brought over by the mutineers) were kidnapped native women and it's likely that that dynamic set the tone for the next two hundred years (that and the mutineers being massive sacks of shit, who would have guessed). The island is the reason that the sun still doesn't set on the British Empire so I doubt it will be abandoned, maybe it will become a prison colony for sex offenders we want to deport but Pakistan doesn't want back.
