Ironically as things have got worse in the UK much of this has been put on the backburner. Scottish nationalists are much quieter than they used to be as they perceive neo-liberalism as a greater threat to the national interest than the current political settlement itself (which is to say that the SNP has burnt much of it's good will with them), in this they are largely aligned with nationalists and populists throughout the rest of the nation (who are slowly consolidating and radicalising, notably populism is increasingly recognised as insufficient within democracy to enact change). Likewise the Irish are increasingly frustrated with migration and this has created bonds of sentiment between groups who are otherwise opposed. It remains to be seen what will happen but if such things come about it will be through institutions, as the populace are increasingly focused on their grievances with the ruling class, introspective national borders.
