Kyoto is one of those stupidly overpriced cities but it is especially noticeable when property in the rest of Japan is remarkably cheap.

Shame to hear that Japan is adopting European standards of distastefulness. Hope it's not a indication of other much lauded and self aggrandised western failures being instituted in the future by a US\Euro model intellectual class replete with rectal head coverings.

@MrCarGuy It’s not much to my taste but it is at least helped by the fact that there aren’t hundreds of the bloody things in slightly differing shapes but little greater functionality and no ones going around claiming that they are the best design ever, building for the most part only them and claiming that those whom don’t much like them are idiots who just aren’t “educated” enough to understand the innate superiority of lifeless box’s with little thought to how normal people (not counting hermit worker ants without kids and with an ungodly amount of disposable income to buy into the new deluxe glass versions of the old soviet style concrete and despair shit blocks) have to live and work or of how humans interact on a group and communal level. At least donate the thing to a museum of asbestos.

It sounds like closing the country permanently to foreigners would be a good idea, devaluing the currency would be of great benefit to domestic industry. It might be good to stop English as a school subject as it is rather ineffective anyway. The focus of all political will should then be on the birth rate issue, which I'm sure will necessitate changes to social structure away from the current shallow imitation of the western model, given that many western countries have the same problem but worse and merely extend it through mass immigration the West should really stop pretending it has any authority on the matter, all their suggestions to date do not propose a solution but rather digging the hole deeper while fundamentally deracinating the country and destroying it's unique culture and heritage to become another corporate outpost with little defining identity and the wage and cultural suppression of the majority population. The West is fundamentally not a good model to build states off of anymore. Japan would be better served to forge it's own path and limit foreign influence until something like the 30 years war settles them down again and means that you won't just be importing problems.

You should see the state of Britain.

You can buy decent property out in the countryside in Japan for less than that.
