Japan has a somewhat suppressed culture of political assassination, it was rampant before American occupation, but even after it even indirect slights to the Imperial family can and have resulted in retribution. Back decades ago a poet wrote an imaginative piece about a revolution in Japan, he made a reference to the French revolution and their royal family using the Imperial family as a stand in, shortly afterwards a member of the public broke into his home and killed his maid and wife while trying to find and assassinate him, most of the Japanese public sympathised with the killer and not the mourning poet.
