  1. Different parts of the US could colonize different parts of the US, there are lots of regionally concentrated ethnic, religious and cultural groups in the US. It is like Chechens, Central Asians or Cossacks could colonize a part of Russia by displacing the current population. While Russia is diverse, Ukrainians and Belorussians do not really make up that diversity, they are slavs that are ethnically, linguistically and culturally and less and stones throw and more hair grappings distance from one another.
