The Indus valley civilisation was literally uncovered by British scholars in the Raj, before that it was long forgotten. The British were heavily involved in the early study and preservation of Indian civilisation and archaeology.

Emotional reaction, I heavily recommend reading into history, his statements might not line up with some popular political assertions in the modern day but they are largely correct.

I'm going to recommend the book Colonialism by Biggar, it is very clear that a great deal of people in the comments lack any fundamental historical knowledge and yet are accusing Carlson of ignorance, and thus a displaying their own when talking about it, as Christ said take the log out of your own eye first.

There is a reason foreign scholars don't take Indian nationalist historians seriously. I would recommend going into less biased sources.

Various people have pointed out that it is strange that all the railways were built between urban centres if that is the case. If you read period accounts you will know that the British where very focused on the concept of good governance and tended to be quite plainspeaking as they expected to be there for centuries rather than decades.
