I think it is important that Japan does not westernise. It might not seem like it from the outside but the west is the sick man of civilisations, these problems are endemic in western countries alongside many many others and the nail is that it is all heading in a worse direction without regard. Solutions to social issues should be found in successful examples not loud ones. A return to Japanese Confucian principals or the strategic adoptions from the old foundational Christian social models that the west used to have would be far more useful in actually solving problems rather than pathologising or obfuscating (which is what people who claim that social issues are just the cost of progress do) them. The responses in the west are entirely ideological so Japan is already greatly ahead in finding solutions and at this rate will continue to be just by not engaging in self harm.

@xXDESTINYMBXx I don’t consider the modern economic and social distortions which are resulting in the salaryman obsession, unproductive work culture and overemphasis on university to be traditional in nature or origin. Nor do I see solving those problems to have any conflict with traditionalism, and if it did then that doesn’t matter, traditionalism is useful in so far as it is of use in solving current issues, a dogmatic approach would turn medicine into poison.
