  1. Parenting advice is not a scientific field, it is very subject to stupid fads and corporate sponsorships. Most of the advice for parenting from the 50's onwards is about as valid as Catholic priest telling you to leave your children with him unsupervised, a good deal of it is justifications for bad parenting or the sort of vacuous stuff middle class women think up after they've had too much wine.
