Depends on what you want, for sport it's probably a commercial rifle (further divided done into what you are hunting), as a battle rifle the lee-enfield is very good, as a trench rifle the arisaka is excellent, finnish mosins are good precision rifles etc. The mauser is excellent, but the best; who knows.
