Not really, Sicilians were dirt poor and heavily exploited by landowners and the mafia. One of the reasons they did well in the US was that they could live well on practically nothing. Coalminers in Britain were well paid and among the most affluent of the working class in Britain, transitory labourers were probably the worst off but were still better off than peasants in Mediterranean countries, notably they weren't tied to the land and were better able therefore to haggle over wages. During this period in England landless agricultural workers and the landed aristocracy tended to be allied against the yeoman class who employed most of the workers, worker action tended to be organised and lead by members of the local aristocracy and the great estates were know to provide relief during times of want, usually though the creation of superfluous jobs and though church networks.

All the classes would find modern people deeply repugnant on a moral level, they would likely also interpret us as soft rather than lucky. They would also find state power extremely tyrannical, ironically a major topic of interest during their time period and one of the reasons they were so much less bureaucratic and the police were an unarmed civilian body. The upper class would be more likely to tolerate modern society as they contained most of the degenerates and socialists of the time period, though the socialists at least would still be scandalized. The middle class were performatively moralistic and would hate modern times with every fiber of their being. The working class would probably be extremely unimpressed by the physical and mental weakness of their descendants, the lack of community and how few children people have. They would all be disgusted by divorce and the normalisation of children and sex out of wedlock and abortion would probably result in them viewing us like we view Nazi's.

The French sources occasionally mention that British autocrats were tall (over six feet is usually mentioned but due to the different measurements of feet that might mean different things, certainly it would be a tad huge in French feet).

India was known for high mortality rates, it was known that Europeans who lived there could be expected to have much shorter lifespans. Didn't stop people from going of course but it wasn't all sun and roses. They also had a woman shortage (marriage with locals was banned) and unless you were a soldier then knowing local languages and having some profession was a basic requirement (e.g. the higher relative living standard was because you were a bureaucrat or owner of a company or suchlike, not merely because you were British).

@雷-t3j you are literally an ignominious, read a book on the period that isn't horrible histories. Yes living standards were worse, pretty much everything else you said was wrong.

That wouldn't double up as a fortress in a time of war.
