There is a garbage day, actually two. Twice a week they come empty the big garbage containers. Plus in the center of Amsterdam they come pick up the trashbags that are put on the street for pickup.

"Better" untill you see the prices are ridiculously high. 21% of tax or 9%.

@stijnhs You still pay a lot of college tuition, road taxes, etc. The Royal family doesn't pay any taxes, multinationals are all in the Netherlands evading tax. Meanwhile the people living there pay lots of taxes. 51% for the top earners. While Shell which earns billions hasn't paid any taxes the last few years. How does that social safety net turn out? Dutch people cannot pay homes because foreign investors buy houses and ask ridiculous rents. Thanks to your own politicians telling other countries to invest in the Dutch housing market. Hell even a member of the Royal family is one of those people who buys tons of houses and uses them to extort his own people by asking a high rent. He owns about 600 properties. Meanwhile illegal immigrants get free housing. Students have to live at home because they cannot afford the prices anymore and have a huge debt at the end of their education. Furthermore The social system attracts illegals living of the state. Looking at the crime rates and social security rates, 2/3 goes to foreigners who came to the country. So basically you are paying tons of money to keep people from other countries afloat while your own people have increasing difficulty with finding housing and education. Your student load systems adds to an even higher debt.

@stijnhs If rent is affordable then why are there increasing items in the news talking about a housing shortage? And yes most students do stay at home because of the high prices, yet again as confirmed by multiple news outlets. Social rent is affordable with waiting lists of 10 years or so. The free sector where others have to rent is expensive and has virtually no limits. 20k is not a low debt. And that last part is based on hard data. It is a fact that foreigners are massively overrepresnted in crime. Yeah those big companies bring some jobs, so they have to pay no taxes? Yeah seems totally fair right. Billion dollar companies paying no taxes because of a bunch of jobs. Even the UN and EU are indicating the Netherlands as a tax haven and tell them to do something about it.

Stijn H Yeah they won't leave because of some taxes. Because of the country's position. Easy Access to the EU as a main point. Didn't the dividend tax issue prove that? The massive jobs argument is pretty much nonsense. In fact Shell keeps removing jobs, despite the great attraction. Most of the companies evading tax through the Netherlands don't offer many jobs because they don't really operate there. They just set up some scheme. It is time they start paying their fair share. Your whole business argument is exactly the problem, housing has become a game of profit instead of a basic human right. The government doesn't care as long as money is made. Foreigners is the right term. Lots of crime committed is done by 'refugees' from safe countries who have no chance of staying . Yet again data proves that.
