A very interesting video, but I don't think I agree with that index. Not even sure what you can use it for other than references of how they perceive certain countries. For example if you talk about economic freedom, there are countries that don't observe sanctions of tyrants and terrorists. That would increase their rating. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I guess it depends if you're a terrorist or not. Corruption of course is an important barometer which I usually refer to the corruption perception index for. But as far as living is concerned, you want to live in a place where you're happy. Where you feel that the rule of law is observed, they have good weather, and God forbid if you get sick, you'll find a hospital in the country that's not too far down the list from the Newsweek top 200 hospitals. Even if the country is on a good standing, if you go and move out in the boonies, and you got a heart attack, the medevac might not be fast enough. A lot of it has to do with how you live as well. If you're a chainsmoker, alcoholic drug addict or don't exercise or eat poorly, no place will work! So I think it's a very personal barometer which you can use for determining where you should be. Real estate in Canada went up, and they blamed it on foreigners. So they passed a law saying that if you're not a resident, even a Canadian non-resident, you can't buy real estate!
